My daughter was in Kindergarten when I applied to work for a school system in Plainview, Tx. I was hired the next day and we drove to the school together and walked down the hall holding hands, I took her to her class and reported 2 doors down to my new class in Content Mastery. Later that day, on her way to lunch she saw me in the hall and said "mommy why you till here?" I said "I work here remember." She smiled real big and hugged me and said "I thought you were 'paying' with me".
I stayed in Content Mastery until she went to 6th grade. I then moved with my CM teacher to the 5th grade campus and together we did life skills for 3 years until my family moved to Jarrell, Tx for a job opportunity. 4 years ago we made Jarrell our home. My daughter was a freshman in high school. I put her in Salado and then applied in several places for special education openings. The following year I was hired on with Jarrell High School as a Content Mastery and Resource paraprofessional. My daughter who has lived and breathed basketball begged me to move her to Jarrell so she could be a part of the Cougar basketball team.
She also was advanced in academics and as a sophomore in high school she began discussing her options of scholarships with sports and academics so we all felt that moving her to Jarrell was the best fit. I will be starting my 12th year working with special education and what started out as beginning my journey the first day of Kindergarten with my daughter has lead to this year being the first day of her Senior year in high school. I would not trade these last 12 years for anything. I work the gate at football games on Friday nights I watch my daughter and all the Cougars at the volleyball/basketball games and I am one of their biggest cheerleaders. I have met the most amazing teachers, parents and students along the way. My daughter and I have been through a few tough times in the past year and my school family has been the most amazing support team along the way. I honestly could not imagine life without Jarrell staff backing me and my daughter up. I am grateful for the years here and I look forward to many more years here. If you ever need to
