Welcome to Algebra I!  I am excited to be your teacher this year.  I know that if we work together this will be a great year!!

I am new to Jarrell ISD, but not new to Jarrell.  I have lived in Jarrell for seven years with my husband and two boys, one will be in Pre-K and one will be in sixth grade. While serving in the US Army in Germany, I completed my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland University College European Division in Psychology. When I exited the military, I went back to school and received my Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Texas State University. As I was completing the MBA program, I realized that I was in school because I wanted to be in the classroom. I completed Alternative Certification for 4-8 Mathematics. My true passion is teaching. Last summer, I decided I would go back to school for a second Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Mathematics at University of Texas at Arlington. I applied and was accepted into the program. Finishing my third semester with a 4.0 GPA, I am enjoying the challenge of going back to school.  I will complete this degree in February. The past ten years teaching 7th through 11th grades, have helped me grow and develop into a better teacher and teacher leader. Being in a math classroom has confirmed my beliefs that learning is fun. I believe that building relationships with each student is just as important in their educational career as is learning the material.  A positive relationship will cause students to take pride in their work and strive to do their best.

My philosophy of teaching:
When a classroom has a warm and inviting feeling and boundaries are set, students are able to let down their guard and enjoy school while learning. The students knowing they have the support and care of their peers and teachers, helps with unity and adds to their feelings of success, fitting in and gives them a sense of belonging.
I am excited to finally be a part of Jarrell High School and to serve your children.
